While a standard heat pump system usually includes a single indoor and outdoor unit, a Multi Room Heat Pump System allows you to connect multiple indoor units to just one outdoor unit. This setup offers flexibility and efficiency for heating and cooling multiple rooms.
With a Multi Room Mitsubishi Electric Heat Pump System, you have the freedom to choose the ideal unit for each area of your home, ensuring comfort without cluttering the exterior. Moreover, Mitsubishi Electric Heat Pump Technology provides superior efficiency and energy savings.
With a Mitsubishi Electric Multi Room Heat Pump System, you have the flexibility to choose the perfect indoor heat pump for each room. Whether you prefer a small-capacity, whisper-quiet high wall unit for the bedroom, a compact floor console for the office, or a discreet ducted model for the lounge, there’s a style and capacity to complement every room, regardless of its size or interior design.
A Multi Room System offers individual control of each heat pump in your home. Whether you need to increase the temperature in the kids’ bedrooms before bedtime or turn off the living room heat pump when heading out for dinner, individual control allows you to adjust temperatures based on your comfort preferences. This capability ensures that heat pumps operate efficiently, only running when needed, which maximizes energy savings.
Mitsubishi Electric Multi Room Heat Pump Systems feature Silent Mode, maintaining outdoor sound levels as low as 45 dBA* during operation, ensuring quiet home comfort.

While a standard heat pump system requires a separate outdoor unit for each indoor unit in the home, a Multi Room Heat Pump System is designed to provide flexibility by allowing multiple indoor units to be connected to a single outdoor unit. This system offers sizing options ranging from two to eight rooms, providing a comprehensive heating and cooling solution with a clean and uncluttered exterior.
With a Multi Room System, there’s no need to rush into selecting all indoor units for your home at once. You can install indoor units gradually, offering flexibility in your setup. For example, a four-room system could start with only two indoor units connected initially. This flexibility allows you to add up to two more rooms in the future, all connected to a single outdoor unit. Planning ahead helps avoid the clutter of multiple large outdoor units that would be required with a standard single-room heat pump system.
All of the Mitsubishi Electric indoor units listed in our single room heat pumps are compatible with a Mitsubishi Electric Multi Room outdoor unit.
In Multi Room systems, outdoor units have varying maximum capacities for heating kW and cooling kW. The actual heating/cooling capacity produced by each indoor unit may differ from its rated capacity because the outdoor unit’s power is distributed among all connected indoor units in operation.
For instance, if you connect an AP42 and an AP50 indoor unit to an MXZ-3E54VAD2 outdoor unit, both units operating simultaneously in Heating Mode will see the AP42 deliver up to 3.1 kW, and the AP50 produce 3.7 kW of its rated heating capacity. However, when only the AP50 operates independently, it can efficiently deliver up to an impressive 6.8 kW of rated heating capacity.
To assist in your decision-making process, all Mitsubishi Electric indoor units are assigned a class rating, which is indicated by the numerical component of the model name. For instance, the MSZ-GE25VAD2 has a class rating of 25.
Each Multi Room outdoor unit is characterized by three parameters that determine the number and size of indoor units that can be connected:
